Assess Loved One

Thank you for taking the assessment.

The following questions were written by recovering addicts in Narcotics Anonymous. If you have doubts about

whether or not you’re an addict, take a few moments to read the questions below and answer them

as honestly as you can.

Does your loved one ever use drugs or drink alone or in isolation?
Has your loved one every changed what they use, or what they drink, hoping to “slow-down” or reduce the amount they consume or the effect?
Has your loved one ever lied to doctors, or tried to manipulate getting more medications?
Has your loved one ever been involved in criminal activity, including driving under the influence, domestic violence, stealing or theft as a result of using drugs or drinking?
Has your loved on ever tried to use drugs or alcohol to “self-medicate”?
Does your loved one drink or use drugs first thing each morning, or in order to sleep at night?
Does your loved one avoid family, or other situations in which drinking or using drugs is not permitted – or in cases where others might speak out against them using or drinking?
Does your loved one have problems at home, with family, at school or work because of using drugs or drinking alcohol?
Has your loved one ever had interactions with the criminal-justice system as part of their using drugs or drinking alcohol?
Does your loved one lie about how much they drink or how much they use?
Has your loved one had financial hardships as a result of drugs and/or alcohol

Based on the questions asked and answered, were you able to determine if there is a problem with your loved one's alcohol or drug usage?
